Painless Cable Knitting

Cable knitting doesn’t have to be a pain in the neck—or the hands! In this mini class with Andrea Lui, PT, DPT—orthopedic physical therapist and avid knitter—you’ll learn how to keep your body comfortable while tackling your favorite cable projects.

We’ll start with a quick review of upper body ergonomics to set you up for success, then dive into practical tips and tricks for knitting cables with less strain and more ease. You’ll learn simple adjustments that can make a big difference in how your hands, shoulders, and neck feel as you knit.

Bring either an ongoing cabled project, or cast on 20 stitches and knit 6 rows in garter stitch. There will be various types of yarn, cable tools, and knitting needles to try out. Andrea will offer individual guidance and help you find what works best for your body and knitting style.

Requirements: experience with cables (this is not a how-to knit cables class), swatch started (recommend DK or worsted weight yarn, with US size 6-8 needles) of 20 stitches with 6 rows of garter stitch.
